VeriChip TV Ad Confirms Critics' Fears: They Want Everyone Implanted

VeriChip’s TV ad for its Health Link implantable microchip that connects to your online medical records has spawned a backlash on YouTube. Observers regard it as either part of President Obama’s secret Nazi plan to enslave us all or a sign of the coming antichrist.

"Your President Shall Have a Great Conversion in 2010 Which Will Bring About Changes to this Nation"

"For there has been a scheme and a plan against the President of this nation, to suffocate him." God says, "The enemy has planned in 2010 to bring shame to the first African President. So that they will say, 'Never again shall an African American be the President of the United States.' This will not happen," says the Lord. "This will not happen. This will not happen.

Entering an anti-Christian era

Biblical and secular history reveals that true followers of God have
always been in the minority. The Bible itself confirms that fact. Yet,
their influence and moral standards have penetrated deeply into all the
world. They have steered many other religions toward less superstition
and less radical activities such as human sacrifices, immorality, etc.
Although over one-third of the world's population characterize
themselves as "Christian", there is a very small percentage who live the
devout and dedicated life as required by the Holy Scriptures.

Breaking Christian News

EDITOR'S NOTE: While Breaking Christian News' main focus is the good news of the Kingdom and evidences of God's hand in our world today; occasionally certain difficult and tragic events warrant sending out a prayer request. This is one of those circumstances, and we at BCN ask the Body of Christ to join with us in prayer for Believers in Iraq, and all of those touched by these horrific acts of terrorism. These are our brothers and sisters-in-Christ who are hurting. –Aimee Herd, BCN.

Plant disease hits eastern US veggies early, hard

CONCORD, N.H. – Tomato plants have been removed from stores in half a dozen states as a destructive and infectious plant disease makes its earliest and most widespread appearance ever in the eastern United States.

Late blight — the same disease that caused the Irish Potato Famine in the 1840s — occurs sporadically in the Northeast, but this year's outbreak is more severe for two reasons: infected plants have been widely distributed by big-box retail stores and rainy weather has hastened the spores' airborne spread.

The disease, which is not harmful to humans, is extremely contagious and experts say it most likely spread on garden center shelves to plants not involved in the initial infection. It also can spread once plants reach their final destination, putting tomato and potato plants in both home gardens and commercial fields at risk.

Meg McGrath, professor of plant pathology at Cornell University, calls late blight "worse than the Bubonic Plague for plants."

"People need to realize this is probably one of the worst diseases we have in the vegetable world," she said. "It's certain death for a tomato plant."

Tomato plants have been removed from Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Lowe's and Kmart stores in all six New England states, plus New York. Late blight also has been identified in all other East Coast states except Georgia, as well as Alabama, West Virginia and Ohio, McGrath said.

It is too early in the season to know whether infected plants will taint large crops or negatively affect commercial growers. But if that happens, growers could be forced to raise prices to cover costs associated with combating the disease.

Agriculture officials in the various states still are trying to determine where the outbreak started. One major grower, Alabama-based Bonnie Plants, supplies most of the tomato plants to big-box stores, but it is unclear whether the plants were infected before or after leaving the supplier's multiple greenhouses.

"There's no way in the world you can pin this on one plant company, but we just happen to be the biggest," said Dennis Thomas, the company's general manager.

The company has regularly inspected greenhouses in 38 states, including Maine, New Hampshire and New York. Its most recent inspections — in New Jersey and Pennsylvania — found no evidence of disease.

"We've not been written up one time for any late blight disease that was confirmed," Thomas said, noting that Bonnie Plants sprays seedlings before shipping them to stores, but that doesn't happen after the plants arrive. He said the company was proactive in removing plants once the outbreak occurred.

In the meantime, plant experts are warning gardeners to be on the lookout for the disease and to take quick action if it crops up. The first sign is often brown spots on plant stems, followed by nickel-sized olive-green or brown spots on the tops of leaves and fuzzy white fungal growth underneath. Tomato fruit will show firm, brown spots.

Spraying with fungicides can control late blight if begun before symptoms appear, but many plant experts recommend removing and destroying the plants instead to prevent spores from traveling.

Will Your ID Soon Be a Microchip Under Your Skin?

Yet another sci-fi milestone is upon us: microchips implanted under your skin and used to identify you.

The VeriChip is the first radio-frequency identification (RFID) microchip that’s been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in humans. The chip is the size of a long grain of rice, and can be implanted pretty much anywhere in the body (most commonly along the tricep). Depending on how it’s used, the chip could do anything from telling doctors your medical background to buying you a round at the club.

Outside of human bodies, RFID is already used for a wide range of purposes. If you pay highway tolls electronically, that little box in your car has an RFID tag in it. Lots of folks implant their pets with RFID chips in case they get lost, as animal shelters increasingly scan pets for them. Wal-Mart tracks their shipments with RFID, which has apparently revolutionized supply chain management. Hell, there’s even one in your passport.

But why put one inside your body? As interesting as it might be to have your ID show up on an x-ray, most people would rather suffer a line at the DMV than a rice-injection. Sure, it might make for good conversation at a party. But is that worth the needle? What would it take to get one under your skin?

Emergency Situations

VeriChip Corp. markets their product to address what they call “a serious need for personal identification and information in emergency situations.” Over the past two years, the company has piloted their product with 200 Alzheimer’s patients in a Florida facility. Because of their condition, many patients are unable to effectively communicate if they are admitted to the hospital without caregivers present. The VeriChip contains a 16-digit ID number which links the recipient to a secure computer database where their medical information is stored. The chips are used to replace MedicAlert wristbands, which can be removed or damaged.

Most other proposed applications for in-body RFID are medical in nature: providing doctors immediately with a patient’s medical records, or identification if they are unconscious or unable to communicate. Still, these applications require that each hospital contain a computer database to connect an individual’s tag with their information. That’s probably a long way off.

Chip n Club

Luckily, the hospital isn’t the only testing ground for RFID chips under the skin. A nightclub in Barcelona called Baja Beach has started offering chip implants to its customers, giving them access to VIP lounges and letting clubbers buy drinks by acting as a debit account. Who wants to carry a wallet or purse when the dress-code is board shorts and bikinis? Baja Beach contracted none other than VeriChip Corp. to fashion their subcutaneous membership cards. I guess last call counts as an “emergency situation.”

In the past, VeriChip Corp claimed their chips could not be counterfeited: if your ID is under the skin, it can’t be so easily stolen. Wrong. At a hacker conference in 2006, Annalee Newitz and Jonathan Westhues showed that they had successfully cloned an RFID chip implanted in Newitz. A home-built antenna let the hackers steal the unique ID contained on the chip, which apparently lacks any sort of security device.

If RFID chips aren’t exactly secure, most people won’t want their social security number contained on one. After all, if a doctor’s office can pull your medical records from the chip (and a hacker can, too) what’s stopping your insurance agency? Or identity theives? That limits the chips to using random numbers, corresponding to useful information on a separate and secure database. And until those databases are standardized and prevalent, having a chip in your body won’t speed up your doctor’s visit very much.

North Korea threatens foreign Christians

North Korea, busy in recent weeks launching test missiles, exploding test bombs and warning the world it will respond with a barrage of weapons should it be attacked, is not neglecting its assault on Christianity.

The nation has responded to a campaign to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world with a threatening fax sent to the Christian ministry Voice of the Martyrs.

The organization confirmed an anonymous fax apparently from the North Korean embassy in Finland promises workers affiliated with VOM that "something very bad will happen to you" if the ministry continues a special Gospel project.

"This fax is good news," said Todd Nettleton, VOM's director of media development and the author of a book on the history of Christianity in North Korea. "This means that (our) faxes are getting through, and they are being read. It is highly unlikely that this type of response would have been made from an embassy without some approval from Pyongyang."

The Voice of the Martyrs project has sent Gospel messages to as many fax-linked telephone numbers inside North Korea as possible.

Christian conservatives fight expansion of hate-crimes law

With a Democrat-controlled Congress and a president who has indicated
his support for the Matthew Shepard Act, time may be running out for its
opponents. To stop the legislation, a few Christian leaders have
suggested repealing all hate-crimes law, which would undo historic
protections for race and even religion.

A New Religion Masquerading As Christianity, Part 1

Liberal “Christians” abhor “fundamentalist” Christianity so they cast it
aside and adopt their own set of religious beliefs and values. Times
have changed, after all, so they feel it’s incumbent upon them to bring
Christianity out of the Dark Ages into our postmodern world.
Christianity must shed its traditional, orthodox beliefs to blend in
with the popular culture.

The 2012 Apocalypse

Dexter Rigsby wrote an article last week in the Guardian of June 3 with
the headline, "Surviving the 2012 threat to humanity''. His article
began: "Most people are becoming aware of a possible doomsday anomaly
said to occur on or around December 21, 2012, when, according to
scholars, two-thirds of mankind can be eliminated."

Pray For the sake of the Church, Israel, the U.S. and all nations

President Obama flew to Saudi Arabia to meet with King Abdullah, "guardian" of Mohammadism's Kaaba stone and religious sites in Mecca and Medina. Tomorrow, Obama, the son of a Kenyan Moslem father, will deliver a speech in Cairo, Egypt to "open a dialog" with the world's 1.5 billion followers of the prophet Mohammad. Obama is not visiting Israel yet, the "final status" of Jerusalem's Temple Mount, pictured above, will certainly be part of "closed door" talks.

Zechariah chapter 12 shows the "terrible" consequences of any world leader "handling" Jerusalem, the city the Lord said He reserves for His anointed King, the Messiah. (Ps 2)

"I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness [reeling] to all the surrounding peoples [ethnos] .... And a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces .... I will strike ... with confusion ... and with madness .... I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem." (Zechariah 12:2-4, 9)

Cry out for mercy and divine intervention. Intercede that
the hand of the evil one and world leaders be restrained.

For the sake of the Church, Israel, the U.S. and all nations, pray that God will continue to "hold the kings of the earth in derision and show them His deep displeasure." (Ps 2)

Pray for objective news coverage, journalism and Truth to emerge from the reporters surrounding these events.
